Hyundai Coupe Convertible
Styling similar to HCD8 concept (not CCS, which was based on outgoing Coupe and has been canned); top model could have supercharged 2.7 V6. Metal folding roof. This model will replace earlier Coupe (Tiburon) altogether - and is expected to have a Kia sister model.

I think I want to throw up a little.

i'm not sure if Hyundai will completely abandon their "low priced sports coupe" market. they've made such great strides with it (GK) that i don't see them completely getting rid of it. thats just my opinion

Sounds like they were talking about this before the GK came out, since they refferred to the 2.7L as a new engine instead of saying using the 2.7L from the 3rd generation V6 model.

Tibby is going no where

Just because they scrapped the idea of using the HCD8 concept, or convertible doesn't mean they are scrapping the tib alltogather. In al actuality they should stick with the GK for another year or two.... R&D is very expensive and completely changing up a car every 3-4 years can't be good for profits.

^^What rgintz said. My local Hyundai dealer told me the same thing, which is why they want my car so bad, LOL.

Oh, and I got this news off of some Detroit news web site after they had their auto show.

Thats just dumb. They at least could have made just a two seater Tib as an option or something; not take the whole model away.

Ugh Im not happy about this. Now Im really not ever giving my Tib away.

'eh. i still don't think i wanna believe it...

seriously. supercharged V6 2-seater would prolly go for $28-32,000 (guesstimate)

the highest GK is like $21,000. they're going quite a ways away from the market segment. it wouldn't be the brightest business move if you ask me

my guess is that it'll be similar to the Santa Fe thing... they make a few minor change and give it another name. shrug.gif

it'll probably be a Tiburon re-vamped to another generation, and given another name. Santa Fe - Tuscon
