Default I got a job

After 19 months I'm no longer among the unemployed.

It's a HUGE step backwards in pay. In fact, I haven't worked for this little since I was in high school. It is at a good company though and I have a lot of room to grow. It's less than I bring in on unemployment (about $1k a month less) but unemployment won't last forever. They'll let me keep my business on the side and fully support that. It's hard to find employers willing to put up with that and even support you. Overall it should be good, but the first few months until I get a raise or two might be brutal.

Also, I won't be on here at all except for maybe lunch time. I will of course be on after work and occasionally before it. I don't know my schedule yet but I start Wednesday.

What kind of job did you get? Lead toy tester? Beer tester? Third shift cheesecake eater? Senior basket weaver? Head light switch operator?

way to go!! the trick to this is try and save as much money as possible by stacking it away somewhere either in the bank or whatnot. you won't believe how much you're left with.

it sucks for us that you won't be around often, but it will be a great thing for you.

I'm working for an environmental testing laboratory. I will be doing IT, data entry, and they'll be training me to run various tests on samples. First tests I will learn is BOD (biological oxygen demand) on water samples. It's an incredibly nerdy job, but there is a lot of good in it for me. It'll also help me gain new clients with my business, which pays me a whopping six times what I will be making at the job by the hour.

Really the only downsides are the pay, and the loss of my free time. The pay will improve though as my qualifications do.

Congratulations finding a job. One word of advice I might give: ask specific permission to visit HA off-clock during lunch only.

congrats. I believe you can still file for unemployment if you're underemployed, or making less than unemployment provides. Check into it.
