In the abscence of a build thread, here are some random updates about my beta accent

I got a ticket/work order/citation/yellow sticker for having no interior the other week. I've been working and procrastinating like hell to get it back together because this is my only car! Finally, I'm booked in for inspection on tuesday morning.

Anyhoo, here's an update as to what I've been doing recently:

We now have functionality on some warning lights. The check engine and air bag illuminate when the key is rotated to ON, then they extinguish when the car is running

These were full of f*ck to wire up. I ended up running my own harness from the engine bay switch. IDK what I'm doing wrong/not realising here, but literally 10+ unrelated wires had continuity at the reverse light harness? To clarify, I put one probe of the multimeter on the positive terminal of the bulb holder, then got the other probe and started testing wires at the under dash connectors for continuity. Some of the wires that had continuity were actually for other things: the rear fog light, power from the fuse box, the anti-theft light in the cluster... it was very confusing and I only got the right wire by applying 12V to all the potential candidates, A.K.A. trial and error. I hope that makes sense to somebody, because I was going out of my mind.

I has full interior now. First time I've had a back seat in over three years!

I had to fug around with the trim in the boot to fit around my battery box; I installed it when there was no trim so fitment was a little interesting! Nothing a dremel and swear words can't fix. Note the fuse holder peeking out from behind the battery lid.

STILL TO FIX

I've got a plan for fixing these harlem-style rad mounts. You can see in the edge of the photo that there is a rubber panel gap adjuster? I'm going to 'delete' the rubber adjuster, then put some washers and a nut in that hole, and move the bracket over. It lines up perfectly with the radiator top mounts, all it means is that my bonnet panel gaps will be ruined!

...Jokes, they were already terrible due to my crash repairs from the other month.

Also, I need to get my exhaust shortened a tad so it can fit on all the hangers. It was a shitty exhaust to begin with (Hans on exhausts are really cheap but you get what you pay for), then it had to be ghetto modified after the beta swap. Yes, that is the 1.5 flex pipe. No, I'm not enthused by its presence.

I'm planning to get some 4-1 extractors and redo the front of the exhaust once I've passed inspection. I'll possibly get a slightly louder muffler, and relocate under the body so I can have a straight pipe out the back.

Also not pictured is the manual steering return loop hose, which is perished, and the driver's side wheel arch, which was broken in my crash. They can both be sorted with ease though.

Anyways, that's about it for now! I'm hoping to get these last items sorted on friday, welder's time table permitting. If anybody has any tips for passing the pits, please share because I've never been over before and I'm pretty nervous about it.

Also, nice progress on passing inspection with the Accent. I'm sure glad i don't have to do that here.

I also love Top Gear. I doubt there's many members that don't. I also don't mind the US version, depending on the episode.
