It might interest people to know that the gas you buy from Exxon is more than likely identical to the stuff at Shell, Sunoco, Amoco, etc.

All the major oil companies dump they're fuel into a "pot" since most of the oil (especially along the East coast) is piped thru pipelines. For instance, Sunoco might dump they're barrel of 87 octane gas in at the beginning of the pipeline, but at the other end they extract a barrel of Exxon's 87 octane and load it onto they're tanker trucks.

The only thing that makes them different are the "do nothing" additives that they add to "Clean your engine".

87 is $1.68 in Centreville, Va... I take a small 4 mile drive to Manassas, Va to get prices at $1.56 a gallon... some places around here (northern VA) are up to $1.91 a gallon...

This oxygenated gas is killing my mileage. I get 22 miles to the gallon highway driving versus 28-29 mpg. I drive 5 miles South, out of my way to get non-oxygenated gas.

Oxygenated gas is good for the environment?

SuperGLS,
it was 87 for $1.66 in Falls Church on Rte 50, so that seems like a universal price in No. VA.

I'm luckly that I only drive her two to three days a week, or I'd really be sweating the increase. My fiancee's best friend has a huge Bronco and pays like $50 to fill it up. Ouch.
