Had lunch with a couple of co workers and one of them was telling me how messy his divorce was. When it was all said and done, he ended up paying almost $50,000. And he has to pay alimony (no child support since his kid is over 18).

 

One of my guys had a wife destroy her brain with whippets in a way that left her sounding sane sometimes but acting koo-koo off camera. He lost at least that same $50k, plus house, cars, collections, but managed to keep custody of their daughter.

 

Mine cost me $289, several trips to family court to drop off paperwork, 2 dogs, some furniture (only piece jointly bought was a $800 dining set, the bedroom set she got was hers when we got married), and my 2005 MINI Cooper S.



I got the house, the 2008 Frontier, my 2004 ZX-6R, the rest of the furniture, and everything else in the house.
