Home security systems
I've had 2 false alarms since I had ADT installed. The cops were literally there and in my driveway with guns drawn, before I could get off the phone with ADT telling them my secret code and that it was an accident. I live in a really high end neighborhood though, so thats why cops are VERY quick to show up. If I lived in a more ghetto area...I highly doubt they would even show up at all. laugh.gif

With the one we had at work we had it go off all the time. Most of the time it was the cleaning crew and they didn't even pick up the phone to give the passcode. It false alarmed a couple other times also.
If the sensor tripped was the front door opening the procedure was:
1. Call the location. If someone picks up ask them for their name and the secret code.
2. If nobody answers or can't give the code, call the phone numbers on the call list in order until there is an answer. Ask whoever answers what to do.
3. If nobody answers call the police.
If it was any other sensor the procedure was:
1. Call the location. If someone picks up ask them for their name and the secret code.
2. If nobody answers or can't give the code, call the police.
3. Call the phone numbers on the call list in order until there is an answer. Inform the first person to answer that the alarm was tripped, which sensor(s) tripped the alarm, and that police were on the way.

Here in Vegas, the guy across the street from us had ADT. One night, his alarm went off while he was out and ADT called him. He said he wasn't home. They sent an ADT security car by his house and they checked the front door. It was locked. They looked over his back wall and didn't see anything unusual, so they left. Apparently, the thieves had gone through a back window by somehow unlocking the window and sliding it open. One inside, they closed the window. After security left, they took off with a bunch of stuff. Cops were never called until he got home and saw he had been robbed.
