There are huge Chinese and Russian investments in Iran. They wont let Iran fall and will mostly likely help or back them up. US can easily take on Iran by itself, but a combination of Iran, China, and Russian will definitely be some major stuff. We are talking WW III possibilities.

I don't think this will escalate too much. Plus Saudi Arabia said they will increase oil production to compensate for any lack of supplies.

Iran makes me facepalm pretty hard, in general.
I hope there isn't another war, but it sure seems likely. Such is life in an oil driven economy.

You might change your mind when gas prices in the U.S. hit $6/gallon amid the other economic troubles of the world.
Iran, unfortunately, has the ability to say
to the rest of the world.
The straight is very important for transports, so it's a delicate situation. I doubt that Iran has any other plans except to show off for a bit though. The entire world would be too pissed at them if they actually pulled something.
In any case I think an actual all out war is out of the question. This isn't Iraq. It's a pretty advanced country with 75 million people, with serious military equipment. They build tanks, jet fighters, UAVs and even MIRVs. Let's just say it wouldn't be pretty.

I wonder just how willing China would be to start a Total War with their main BFF trading partner. The Chinese and American economies would both suffer dramatically, immediately. The Chinese economy is already getting bad enough. If it got 10x worse because half the stuff they made suddenly had no buyers, that's internal revolution time, peasant revolt stirring-kind of trouble.

true but it seems like economy these days isnt so much about how bad yours is, but how much better yours is in comparison to the competition. if yours is crap and the next guys is complete ass then you're not doing so bad right?
