I saw the poll about believing in god so i thought since we cant post some answers we could do it here....
for those of you who do believe in god, or some higher being.... what do you think heaven is??
for me...
Heaven is what we make of it. I dont think there is just one heaven. I think heaven is what lies deep in our hearts. You always hear people saying they'll see them again someday and what not. i agree to an extent...

say my heaven is being with my immediate family and my dog, and signifcant other... but my moms heaven is just being with my dad. what im trying to get at is that just because my heaven has someone in it doesnt mean they will have me in theirs. so heaven is each persons own little world. get it?

"Treat the other man's faith gently; it is all he has to believe with. His mind was created for his own thoughts, not yours or mine. " so do NOT bash in here lol

"We think having faith means being convinced God exists in the same way we are convinced a chair exists. People who cannot be completely convinced of God’s existence think faith is impossible for them. Not so. People who doubt can have great faith because faith is something you do, not something you think. In fact, the greater your doubt the more heroic your faith. "
just a few quotes lol. feel free to add some of your own

I think there's something, but I don't think anyone can say with any accuracy what exactly it is.

I imagine heaven to be a place similar to Tolkien's description of Lothlorién; forests of the tallest white trees with amber colored leaves, that neither change color or fall during the seasons. And at night, countless stars illuminate the forest, and the only thing that can be heard is the rustling of the leaves and a soft brushing of grass as the wind moves across it.

Then again, I just wished I lived in Middle Earth fing02.gif

Whatever, and wherever, heaven is, I think it is the same for all of us. I think it is an actual place where faithful people will go, and I think everyone of them will be together there, with both people they once knew and life, and the strangers they've never met.

At times, I also think heaven could be along the same lines of memory. Truth, in memory, lasts forever. People who do good works and make a change in this world are remembered forever, in books, in speeches, in men's thoughts. If we can do something so great as to create a ripple in this universe, we'll be remembered forever. Even long after the Earth is gone, what we did really happened, we really existed, and nothing can take that away.

I did not respond with the "god" question as I am a Taoist. This question however, is deeply buried in my beliefs. "the way" as Taoism is sometimes referred to is a religion and a philosophy that is both of Heaven and Earth. In it, the body has two souls that come from both aspects.

The Shen, or the immaterial soul, is formed from the etherial makeup of Heaven. It can and does survive past death and can be reborn into another body. It is formed of "yang" or positive materials and is referred to as the "k'i" or Breath.

The Kwei, is the material soul. It is formed from the earth and will returned there when the body dies and the Shen has fled. This is the "Ying" part of the equation.

So yes, I believe in Heaven, but not as most people would understand it. It is not a place we go to when we die, but a place we come from when we are born, and reborn, and reborn and etc etc...

I believe in A heaven, not neccissarily your heaven.

anyways, I posted about it. I actually went there and took PICTURES. Search for a thread titled "I went to heaven" or just "heaven" by Patreezy. cool.gif

can't give my opinions yet. Still studying the subject. As far as the "Kingdom of Heaven" is concerned (not the movie) the Bible speaks about it quite frequently. It's something that can be experienced while on earth, that's all I will say for now. wink1.gif

Heaven looks like this...

Read the story. That is heaven. Over 2,100 pairs. I only got about 25. That's like 1% of what that guy has.
