Default Half a BILLION!

Mega Millions is now up to $540 million!

I need to go get some tickets later on. I cant even imagine in my wildest dreams be able to say that I won a half a billion dollars. I know after taxes you probably would get around 200 million but still...that is just an ungodly amount of money. You would never have to touch it either. You could live off the interest alone year after year.

Hold on there. It is a guarantee you will not win. Say they're keeping 1/2 the money put in. That's a billion tickets sold and one winner means a billion to one odds. I'd bet my LIFE on a billion to one odds with a high degree of confidence.

Play or don't. The only difference in your winnings is that when you don't play you get to keep your $1.

The odds are 176,000,000:1. Doesn't matter how many tickets are sold,

If one person does win, and decides to have the payments spread out, it comes out to around 10 million a year for 40 years. I could deal with that.

My economics teacher said today that you would have a better chance of being attacked by a grizzly bear and a polar bear in the same day than winning this lottery. But hey, somebodys gotta win

I agree.

Somebody does win, but at the end of the day it's because there are 643,000,000 other dollars against yours. It's like a tax to pay to have a Royal Family ...minus the royal family.

It's a tax on people who are bad at math. Ben M, this is like the 19th drawing for the same (increasing) jackpot. Nobody HAS to win, but next time it will be over a billion dollars if nobody wins this time.

any word if there was a winner?

My Dad always say's "if you don't play you can't win". I'll buy a lotto ticket every once in a while, I never expect to win. And haven't ever won anything
