Actually, the herpes virus that gives you cold sores is airborne. You don't have to kiss someone, or even share the same can of soda with them. Breathe in the air they exhale and you could get it.

Could being the operative word there. I'm no doctor but I've never heard of it being airborne nor have I ever heard of it spreading through breath... I can imagine saliva spreading it but not air. Maybe at ridiculously close proximity to the infectee's mouth & if they're a bit of a "spitter" when they talk wink1.gif

I'm pretty sure that any form of Herpes can only be transmitted through direct contact with the actual affected area(s) on the skin, through sharing of eating utensils or drinking bottles/glasses, sharing of a smoke or chap-stick & through poor hygiene (i.e.: not washing hands after touching infected skin then spreading it that way to other areas of the body or to other people).

I think cold sores can be spread through the air and just germs from mildly poor hygiene. The last time I had one was when I was 7 and obviously I wasnt doing the nasty back then so it does prove they dont only come through sexual contact. laugh.gif

i have had herpes before but i forgot about it untill after i voted null

its was actually herpes zoyster (shingles) and its not a sexualy transmitted disease its from chicken pocks (your body's immunity to chicken pox weakens and stress combined will make you get shingles)
but i got chicken pox from a girl i had sex with does that count? lmao.gif
