Default Is this a good example illustrating the perils of socialism?

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich. It is a great equalizer.

The professor then decided to experiment with the class. He decided that all grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less, and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride

too, so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the new average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame, and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Human nature will always cause socialism's style of government to fail because the world has producers and non-producers (makers and takers).

It is that simple.

It's fake is what it is.

This floats around facebook and come on my wall every few days. Old and boring.

Would be epic if true, but no university level professor would have the balls to do this. And knowing America today, the students would sue the school.

Be sure to note in all discussions: the theoretical route is not the same but the end effects of communism and socialism are the same. Here is a true-life example from my job of communism in action:

I was pulling behind me a rolling wire (Metro) shelf through the warehouse, taking a bunch of stuff from one place to another. Another guy came along and started pushing because we were going the same direction. I noticed the cart got heavy all of a sudden and I turned around to see him standing on the bottom shelf, free-riding. He grinned at me real big-like. The cart had a heavy load and a bit of momentum, so I jumped on as well. We both said "wheeeeee . . . aw." because it was fun until the cart predictably stopped after a couple seconds. As we got down and both started pushing again I said "and that's why communism never works".

That is why 'we the people' should help out the poor/needy/disadvantaged, not a central govt. Because the massvie govt can't see if he is faking or it not or genuinly needs/wants help, but we the people can see that.

Repulicans aren't against helping people out, they are against an easiy corrupt and exploited large govt forcing us to help them out on their terms.

If a government could tell who was in need of help or they'd fall off the socioeconomic cliff, I would still be against using tax money to do it involuntarily. It is immoral to stick a gun in somebody's face and tell them someone else needs their money more than they do who went out and busted ass to earn it.

On the other hand, I give double-digits percent of my income to charitable causes and nobody asks me for it.
