Hey man I live in NYC. Def. a great place to come but a few things.

# 1. Bring money because you're going to spend a lot of it.

Gotcha covered. Scores, here we come. LOL

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 2. Don't go to those tourist places to eat like planet hollywood/hard rock cafe unless you want a $50 burger that's no better than something from a local diner.

Hey man, I'm from Niagara Falls, HOME of Tourist Traps. I'm good. Planet Hollywood food sucks anyway. Ever eat at a Rainforest Cafe? Blah!!

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 3. Best steak in the city is at Peter Luger's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Make your reservation now and you MIGHT be able to eat there. If not go to Tavern on the Green, it's in Central Park, is very beautiful and a dinner should run you about $150.

Too rich for my blood.

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 4. Arguably the best pizza is at Grimaldi's (also known as Patsy's) in downton Brooklyn under the Brooklyn Bridge.

Done. I've been waiting for somebody to give me an in like that.

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 5. Don't stay at a NJ hotel, cancel the reservation...there's lot of nice places to stay for reasonable cash in the other boroughs of NYC like Queens or Brooklyn which are much closer to where you want to be.

Nah, got it covered man. I appreciate the honesty though. I work at hotels I have a pretty good idea of the area too. We're only in Secaucus, 10miles from downtown, or so they say. We'll see. Like I said, $500 for a decent hotel is 2 months car payments. Ain't gonna happen.

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 6. Stay out of Staten Island, there's no reason to visit, same goes for Queens and the Bronx (unless you go to the Bronx Zoo).

We were thinking of the Zoo, good times during the cold weather or what?

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 7. Go to a museum, any of them, they are all wonderful and worth your time.

We'll be going to one of them for sure just don't know which one yet. No art museums though, not enough time, and not interesting enough IMO.

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 8. Take the subway everywhere, quicker than a cab/bus and can take you anywhere you need to go.

Yeah that is the plan. For whatever we can that is.

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 9. Regardless of what people tell you, crime isn't really an issue, just don't be stupid. laugh.gif

I'm telling you now. The first alleyway I see I'm going down. lmao.gif

QUOTE (City @ Nov 20 2005, 02:50 PM)
# 10. If you find yourself saying, I'm bored and have no idea what to do, go to the Village and walk around, you'll enjoy it.

Note taken.

Thanks man. I'm seriously taking note of that pizza place. I'm dying to have some NYC pie. I keep thinking of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II Secret of the Ooze" when everybody is eating pizza. Man I can taste it now.

I'm getting all excited now.

If your into military stuff at all the U.S.S. enterprise (I'm pretty sure thats it) has been turned into a museum. it also has a bunch of historic airplanes on it's deck (including a blackbird) also a great thing to do is see an off broadway play.

OH MY GOD.................absoluetly right. Couldn't agree more. BEst Pizza EVER!

I'm a "skater" you could say and I was skating under the brooklyb Bridge on the Manhattan-side, aka The Brooklyn Banks...

After skating for like 6 hours straight (it's like heaven on bricks...ahhh)...I found Grimaldi's. Exact quote after my first bite:

"where have you been all my life"

and under the brooklyn bridge is not too far from the Twin Towers original location, I'd be ineterested to see the progress they have made over the 3 years it's been since I've visited.
Take pics if ya can, LOTS!

have fun.

It's the USS Intrepid btw, IMO it's not worth the trip, I worked there as an intern for 4 months as the marketing art assistant. I love the place but it's around 20 bucks admission, will take you about an hour to do it all. The Cloisters museum is nicer, it' in the upper west side and is built like a castle.

Oh dude, note on the pizza place I told you, you can't order slices there, only a pie. But 2 people could easily finish it. There's another really great place to go in the city too it's a micro brewery/restaurant, amazing place PM me for info.

oh and on the twin towers site, besides the surrounding buildings, nothing has changed since the clean up, just a big empty lot.

LOL thanks Cyber.

I figured that much on the pies. Having a whole pizza is no biggie, if it's good stuff it's not going to last very long anyway.

Cloister's eh? Like battlefield/wartime type stuff? Might be interesting. I the Intrepid a Carrier. Cause that might be cool to just walk past. I've done the whole ship thing, there is a small ship museum in Buffalo that has a cruiser and a submarine you can go through. They've got planes and stuff there too. Plus in Ontario Place they've got a battleship, which was cool to walk through and see the big @$$ guns. Pretty neat but one is kinda like the other IMO.

So Grimaldi's it is!!! LOL

go to a cawfee and bagel shop in Manhattan.

Get a coffe and say "cawfee" for the hell of it. Then, (this is very important) when they ask you how much cream cheese on the bagel say you want a "shmear"

Not the best part of your trip, but I just want you to experience "the shmear" LOL

It's like the bagel's thickness in cream chease on top of it. Drowned in cawfee...mmmm

Thanks Pat, I'll try to remember that. I'll see if I can surprise one of my trip-mates.

You don't mean that they dump coffee on the bagel though? Do ya?

eww....no

I mean the east coast (Jersey/NYC especially) has a different understanding of how much cream cheese to put on a bagel. If you want it slightly spread you are insane and instantly shunned from the 5 boroughs. wink1.gif

Jersey bagels, are either LOTS of cream cheese, or a TON. No other option available. (It's like asking "George Bush: great president or the greatest president?") Haha, umm...neither. I'm not seeing that as an option

^^for all you Colbert watcher's...

I MEAN...take the thickness of a bagel and imagine that thickness in cream cheese on top of it. LOL. that's the east coast way.

Seattle has their coffee...
The SW has their In N' Out (sorry but all you other peeps are missing out!)...and ABQ BBQ's
Florida has palm trees
And the Northeast has cawfee, a donut fetish and their cream cheese....
