I certainly hope you're not insinuating that the cost of bread and milk has anything to do with politics, because that's essentially what you just said.

Nah... The Farm Bill has nothing to do with the price of bread and milk.

I usually get bread for under a $1 a lb. Milk would be in the $7 a gallon range without the farm bill.....

The cost with/without subsidy is THE SAME people! The subsidies come out of your and my pay with the rest of the money Congress spends. Take away the subsidy and the price rises. You know what the price rises to? The ACTUAL price, something more like what you will pay currently at a farmer's market. You know what else happens? You don't have to pay those subidies in your taxes every paycheck! Congress blows the money on something else!

So I was exaggerating a little. I think though, that we're blaming a little too much on the Government, hence my point. Inflation kind of does it's thing from time to time, so expecting $1/gallon gas for eternity when the value of that same dollar is a fraction of what it was 30 years ago, is a silly ideal.

Though I do think that many of the lock-downs that government has placed on drilling are far from acceptable, not to mention the billions that we gave Brazil that wound up making oil more affordable for the Chinese... Yeah that. So, Stocker I think in this instance you're picking on the strawman, not the actual culprit. That was the point.

If you use Propane and remember last winters shortange with $4 a gallon prices you have to wonder why?

I get a newsletter from my local porpane supplier. Imagine what happens when exporting propane is at record levels and domestic use is at record levels. What I buy for $1.25 in July cost +$4 a gallon in January.

Thee is no shortage of drill permits either. About half of the issued permits the oil companies are just sitting on. Any increase in production is going overseas whether it is crude or refined. Refined oil exports are at record levels for the USA. Screw the domestic market when we can export it and get higher prices.
