Uncle Sam is actually giving something away for once, but wonder what the hidden things are. Nothing truly is free in this country. I'm sure they'll tax it or you'll have to claim taxes on the money next year. *lol*

Our "tax refunds" are really just interest free loans from us to the government. They make interest off of our taxes, then give back the principal in April.
Glad they're issuing rebates tho... hopefully I'll see some of it. The amounts they're giving aren't financially going to be enough to stimulate the economy, but it's more of a mental battle - people get money back instead of paying, they're willing to think differently psychologically and maybe spend more instead of saving.

Well they're giving money back to people they know will spend it, the poor/middle-class. It'll most likely help the economy a bit, but as majik said, the mental impact is important; the more people worry about being in a recession, and worry about being headed toward a possible depression, the less they spend. "its a vicious cycle" lol.
Im sure Bush is confused, he's used to giving tax breaks to oil moguls and other rich people.
And Majik i think you failed to understand who "you" was in your signature quote, she was referring to rich people. Letting them know that if elected she would make sure they wouldn't see the tax breaks they don't deserve/need.

Best advice I heard on this was to use the money you get to payoff some credit! I would be looking at a check for $2100 (1200 + 300 per child). My concern with this is they are mailing checks out, I am getting ready to move. Where would they send the check?

When you go to move go to your local post office, tell them your new address so any mail that gets sent to the old address will be forwarded to your new address.

lol, was that an actual question? or a "making a point" kind of question? because you missed the target either way...
The answer to what i would consider "rich" is irrelevant since its a qualitative term based on personal opinion, what bill gates considers rich is amazingly different than the guy i see on the corner of 19 & 19A everyday with a sign made of cardboard.
...but since you asked...i'd say if you make more than 200g's a year you're "rich" & 100k and up is "quite well off".
And the % answer would be: considerably less than people that are not making as much money, which is what is being implied, why should the rich pay less taxes?

Im sure we do, and i agree completely about the cluttering part, I'm sure you know i usually just keep out of all the political talk on here (as well as redz obsession with the XBOX360 lmao.gif) even when i don't particularly agree with whats said...
i just knew your signature was designed to "punk" her but i was just letting you know it didn't really accomplish said task. I would have discussed it else where but we were talking about tax refunds anyways wink1.gif
back on topic, I think its good they are giving refunds to the people who pay taxes but don't make enough to require filing taxes. (which includes me this year haha.)
