i knew ford would be alright. they are thriving in europe, and make good cars over there. everyone says "buy american" and "american muscle" blah blah but go to europe where the roads are the same since the 12'th century and you will find Ford has cars like the Fiesta and Ka to keep itself moving.

and Olga Kurylenko to keep the Ka moving.

...and me to watch Olga Kurylenko.

Yeah, Ford got some respect from me by not accepting the bailout alone, back when that crap happened. Although they did say they might accept it at a later date IF they needed it.

Ford got lucky on the timing is all. They almost went bankrupt like GM and Chrysler, and for the same reasons, but it was at the height of the easy credit bubble that led to the current bust.
Chrysler should be first to go.
Did you guys see that both Ford and GM have a program similar to Hyundais Assurance program?
Ford will make payments up to $700 per month for up to a year if needed.
GM was more like 9 months and $500 I think.

i think Ford borrows from there back and fourth depending on the situation. they have a long history not only over there, but just about everywhere else in the world.
the old mondeo and escort 3 & 4 doors are wonderful cars. especially the cosworth!! the new mondeo is a nice car as much as a taurus is a nice car. but it just follows that triangular trend of plain regular cars these days. they do include the turbo diesels on most of their models and i've actually seen some mustangs there more recently. but they have sooo many models U.S. folks have never ever heard of.
here are some of the new ones:

kinda funny if you go up to any Mustang guy here and they won't know Ford's entire lineup.

ALL the carmakers are making a HUGE mistake in the US. If they had brought over the small, quiet, torquey European common rail direct injection turbo diesels 2 years ago, they could have been trumpeting the 20-30% fuel savings all the way through the recent gas price madness. Especially if they brought them over in inexpensive little shoebox size cars.
