Police officers in Indiana are upset over a new law allowing residents to use deadly force against public servants, including law enforcement officers, who unlawfully enter their homes. It was signed by Republican Governor Mitch Daniels in March.
The first of its kind in the United States, the law was adopted after the state Supreme Court went too far in one of its rulings last year, according to supporters. The case in question involved a man who assaulted an officer during a domestic violence call. The court ruled that there was “no right to reasonably resist unlawful entry by police officers.”

i see this as a good and a bad thing.. gives all the career criminal and criminal-like people a reason to CLAIM it was an unlawful entry and shoot officers and other public servants (like social workers and child protection, etc)

I will have to read the full info on this.
It is right and good that you should be able to resist anyone unlawfully breaking into your home and/or assaulting you regardless of their job description. It needs to be clear that the limits are pretty cut and dried.

Indiana has some redneck wanna be officers. In Newton county where I use to work they have about four actual deputies but at least 15 volunteers. The volunteers don't get paid, buy their own uniforms, don't wear guns and are all over the place.
