yea... title says it all. well as some of you know i was having problems with my car's CV joint and such. well yesterday my mom drove up to my college to trade me cars so it wouldnt cost me an arm and a leg to get it fixed. she calls me about two hours later (its an hour drive home) and she is ballin. she was absolutely freakin out cuz she "wrecked my car". now this did hit me really hard but all i could think about was if she was ok. once i concluded that she was physically fine i asked about the car. well i guess she was driving and all of a sudden the car started shaking like mad. she said then all of a sudden the car dropped or somethin and she saw the wheel flyin down the road. The drivers front wheel CAME OFF!!! i guess the lugs or something popped off... im not totally sure what happened truthfully. i've not seen my car but from what my parents have said, it rolled the front fender up like a sardine can. honestly it doesnt bother me much because its just a car, it just sux that i couldnt have been the one driving... she feels like its all her fault when truthfully its not. Hopefully they will take some b4 repair pics and i will post em up here.

sue the place... haha man i wish i could sue somewhere. see i was the one who put the wheels on. i torqued em down with a torque wrench and everything. i truthfully dont think it was anyone's fault really... just bad lug nuts. they were aluminum tuner nuts, probably not the strongest things in the world

you torqued 'em... but did you REtorque 'em?
with alloy wheels, the lugnuts can back off due to the heat they produce... there's some scientific explanation that i honestly don't know. but because the alloy is softer, the lugs can back off...
at Sears, it's policy to tell every customer that has alloy rims to come back afte 25-50 miles to have the lugs retorqued. just incase...
very sucky about what happened. good luck w/ the repairs 02.gif

Doode, the wheel came off, call her and ask her if there was anything attached to the wheel.
I've seen this happen and have HAD it happen to my Humvees SEVERAL times. Some dumb ass mechanic gets in there and doesn't tighten the nut that holds the geared hub on correctly and when you take a turn, you lose a tire/rim. I forget the name of the other part, but if you were having problems with a CV joint to begin with, maybe it all came apart?
