today an f-16 was shot down in iraq. as of now the preliminary reports are that the insurgents got to the wreckage first and the pilot is not thought to have survived. so i ask that please pray for this pilots family and the pilot. whom i hopt beyond hope ejected safely. they have shown the wreckage on the news and one shot was of the canopy. in my experience as an f-16 crew chief. that canopy was ejected. now i just pray the reports are wrong. please pray for the pilot and his family. thank you

Yeah, the F16 is from Cannon AFB here in NM. Hobgoblin used to be stationed there.

Wow, it's wild to think that just a few years ago, I was sitting on top of that exact jet taking a gun out for routine maintenance... 02.gif
MY thoughts and prayers go out to them during this time...

Do to InfoSec reasons, I'd ask that this topic be locked before people with theater information start putting their two cents in on the capabilites and limitations of friendly and foe forces.

Yeah, I agree with Peter. Folks know what to say and what not to, and I watch military related threads carefully.

She was a 332nd bird out of Balad. Pilot was maj Troy Gilbert of the 309th from Luke. Only other info I can really pass is that the pilot has not been found, and the crash site was covered with people in minutes of impact.
