I'm not a hardcore gamer, and I am not a fan of Microsoft. It seems that once a company gets too big, they loose sight of the important things while trying to keep costs down.

My buddy got his like 5 years ago and got the ring a few months ago, MS sent him a refurbished one. But that was a pro console not an arcade. I'm fairly positive that if you get the rrod, warranty or not that they will replace for free with refurbished one.

I've had my elite for 2 years now with no problems at all.

Why should I bother fixing it when I still have a warranty?

^ because any attempt to fix it yourself will void the warranty, so only do it if you're 100% certain you can get it to work as good as new(refurb).

I won't state my preferred method, I will only say that Walmart keeps refunding my motherboard purchases

I refuse to buy another Microsoft console after the 360. The RROD issue sucks but I had to mod an 80mm fan into my original xbox to stop it overheating as well. They just need to learn how to build a system.
