Ever wanted to dyno your car to see what it can do? Too cheap to goto an actual dyno or goto a track? Have an Ipod touch or Iphone?
If you said yes to any of these you should check this out. Dynolicious is a piece of software made for the iphones and ipod touch which utilizes the built in accelerometer to estimate many times from 60' to 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. If you enter the wieght of the vehicle and a 0% drivetrain loss it tells you whp and you can figure in the drivetrain loss if you want bhp.
The software itself is $13 and is supposed to be pretty accurate. I have gotten it on my ipod but havn't actually tested it yet, I will test it later tonight and let you know what I think.

For those who don't want to watch the video I'll give you the stats.
Dyno rated HP: 165.5
Dynolicious : 170
slip times:
60' - 2.811
330 - 6.883
1/8 - 10.245 Mph - 73.27
1000 - 13.149
1/4 - 15.614 Mph - 91.29
Dynolicious:
60' - 2.83
330 - 6.88
1/8 - 10.27 Mph - 73.1
1000 - 13.17
1/4 - 15.65 Mph - - 90.6
So as you can see It is actually pretty accurate. HP was off by 4.5 but that's about the dfference between a dyno jet and mustang dyno as a guy in the video states.
The times were off by a matter of thousands of seconds and the Mph were off by 0.6.
For $13 it doesnt seem to bad. I'll come back later with my results and what mods I have and we can discuss this.

Well it's raining so I can't do anything tonight anyways and there are really no safe areas to do 0-60 pulls. I did play with the skidpad which tells you the g-forces exerted on the car. Acceleration G's, brake G's, and lateral G's. Not really useful to me but fun none the less. I was thinking of going to the local track here on friday so I can play with it then for accuracy.
My car shakes to much to put it where I had it and it cant get calibrated to set the run. Usually it goes into the cup holder and is snug but our cup holders aren't built like that lol.

I had a pocket dyno that was based on the same principle. It was fun to mess with. For actual numbers I would definitely go to the track and /or dyno. I imagine you need a very accurate weight of your car to figure out horsepower numbers. Got mine at the local truck stop. Try to find yourself a good flat on-ramp to a highway or an interstate. Thats where I did my 0-60 runs.

D, the BEST way to see how accurate this thing is, is to go to the track. do like 5 runs, and record them with this software EACH time you do a run, just so ya know its not on/off because of a fluke or something.
if its pretty accurate, i would take the MAX that its off during the 5 runs, and every mod you do, do another run (with software only) add the amount that it was off max, and you will be able to get a good idea of what each mod adds on to the cars 60ft, 0-60, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, ET speed.

sounds intersesting too bad i have no ipod touch or iphone...
cause i have a local track about 20 minutes away (budds creek)
even though it 13 bucks it would not be to much of a loss if it is not accuate or close to it
