Default Drunk father picks up drunk son from police station

http://www.wfmj.com/story/16683888/p...-son-after-dui

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - Police say a central Pennsylvania father was drunk when he drove to a police station to pick up his even drunker son who had been arrested for drunken driving after he was found passed out in his car.

Online court records don't list attorneys for 44-year-old David Peterson Sr. and 24-year-old David Peterson Jr., who list the same home address in Bellwood.

The Altoona Mirror (http://bit.ly/yBl22G ) reports Monday that city police have charged both men with drunken driving and other violations for incidents that occurred early Jan. 20. The elder Peterson faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 22 and his son on Feb. 15.

Police say the father's blood-alcohol content was 1.5 times the state's legal limit when he drove to the police station, while his son's was slightly more than double the legal limit.

A for both the father and the son....

Wait, you can be arrested for drinking and driving WHILE PASSED OUT IN YOUR CAR? Unless the car was rolling down the road, this seems to indicate he was stopped on the side of the road, and I didn't know you were able to get a ticket for not actually driving.

The law around here states that if you're in your car and the key is in the ignition or if the car is running, you can be cited for DWI. If the key is NOT in the ignition, you're safe.

^Who is to prove that? A proportionate amount of cops will write anything in their reports and will be believed regardless of the "law".

True. I knew a guy in AL that was drunk in the winter, and didn't want to drive home, but he was cold so he turned his car on for heat....DUI.
