I remember back when then EU was being formed, Germany made steps to block Italy's entrance unless they could clean up their economy, thinking it would be impossible for the Italians to do. (anybody remember how little the Lire was worth?) And just to spite the Germans, they cleaned up their act in less than a year.

Yes, the Italians can be quite headstrong and very anti-European.. but they put their heart and soul into most things they do.

As for the driving video, I remember that from a long time ago, still funny though.

that's awesome, and quite true!! i've been to italy and the rest of central europe and can confirm it! you get into arguments with people because they take your spot when it's clearly evident that you've been waiting and have your signal.

I agree, I've been to Italy and many European countries myself. It's crazy!!
