Diy Buggy, Looking For Ideas To Find Scrap Metal
hey guys, me and a friend of mine are looking into making a buggy to bomb around in, going to have suspension and a full roll cage. were planning to make this a serious budget build since its purely for the fun of it. does anyone have any ideas where to find scrap metal tubing and any other parts we might need?
the scrapyard is going to be an obvious source for parts and such but theres not many places in calgary that have actual thrown away metal. if anyone has any ideas what kind of places to call around to see if they have such scrap
thanks for any input smile.gif

yeah, you could go junkyarding for many things but important stuff like the frame I'd go with new metal. You don't want to find out there's a week spot in the metal going 60 mph.
I've actually been looking into buiding a locost and using a wrecked tib as the donor car. However miata's are much more popular options.
If you have the skills to build the frame you can save alot of cash on the project.

thanks tibby,
that locost is pretty cool but i didnt want to have problems with driving it on the street or only going to the track so decided to make a buggy so i can go offroad and not have to touch the road smile.gif
these are the plans im sort of basing it on -link- came with close to 90 pages of CAD drawings so its pretty simple planning wise except i dont plan to be following it exactly, add some personal flare cool.gif
how cool would this be to bomb around in fing02.gif

very cool, I'd rather have a road vehicle and I have nowhere to drive something like that.
Make sure to take lots of pics, I'll be interested to see how you do it. fing02.gif
