ok so the problem ive been having, starts with the va but it dont end there. i better start from the beginning for those whom have not heard the whole story.
Before i entered the military i was perfectly healthy with no problems what so ever.
Then i become an F_16 maintenance Tactical Aircraft Technician (aka crew chief)
i was extremely happy fixing jets and had a helluva lot of pride in what i did. then 2 years into my enlistment i had a freak accident. While doing an adjust ment and fitting of the rear horizontal stabs, someone wasnt paying attention and dropped their end of the wing. it dropped onto the ground yanking my arm completely out of the socket. i was extremely sore after putting it back in but i thought i had pulled a few muscles so i didnt go to the docs till like a week later. i found out i had ripped all tendons and muscles off my shoulder blade so ii had to have minor surgerie to keep my c]shoulder from winging out and dislocating my shoulder multiple times a week.
After surgery #1 i went through all req rehab and started working out again only to find out that it didnt work. my arm continuelly popped oout of te socket and it got to the ppoint where i could stand putting it back in multiple times a day. it hurt like hell but i could do it.
So i went back to doc, doc said my only other option left was a MAJOR surgery where half of my right pectoral muscle was to be removed and relocated into my shoulder/ back. then to graft it all together they would take a section about 14 inches long out of my hamstring and attach it to the muscles. to ensure it would be fixed. so i went through it and came out looking like this.

So after that, again i went through all rehab only to find out i wasnt fixed.. so i went bk to doc. he said there is nothing else to do. so military gves me an honorable disharge, because i can no longer do my job as a crew chief.
so i get out and go to the VA (veterans affair) hospital to get disability and try to get fixed. they tell me after a year of going through painful tests and xrays that there is nothing else to do and that my arm is PERMANTLEY disabled. so i wait on the disability board and they tell me that on their findings since my arm doesnt fit inot a code in their book i get a 0% disability rating on that but i get a 10% for carpul tunnel? now mind you i can no longer work out because my arm pops out, i cant run because it causes ALOT of paint after only a block on my knee where the hamstring was taken out. but im FINE if you ask them, i cant hold a job as a mechanic because of my arm and knee, i only have skills of a hard laborer, and now they wont allow me to file chapter 31 because i havent had to quit this job at auto zone and i havent been fired because of my disability. heres me today. now

its pissing me off, im appealing the decision on my arm an knee on pain because they admit there is moderate and significant amoutn of pain, but idk im just pissed the military used me till i was no good any more than they said goodbye and f&^%^ed me again.
im sorry about this rant but i just put my arm in for the fourth time this week and im pissed im only getting 115 a mnth comp pay, and i cant get a full time job. so i can not sustain myself and am forced to live with parents for awhile

daaaaaaamn. you're brave that shit must have been really really painful! you sure the military doc can't do anything for you? that's terrible man... i had to reiterate that but it looks like it hurts. they've got to have something for you. there has to be somekind of a solution they can't just leave you like this!

i don't know much about the military, but wow that's the military for you. i've heard of tons of people being f--- over. like even my manager told me to stay away from the navy. working on planes is a dream and great pay and benefits. unfortunately there is always a risk involved.

i hope you get something in return and maybe they'll have something for you. it just doesn't seem right they would just leave you.

good luck, and hope it gets a bit better.

actually this is happening all over. but according to the dr's and specialist my arm is inoperable so i have to live like this but i dont see how they can get away wit saing that i have no disability in my right arm. it sux
and yes hkc it hurt like hell and still does. but no bravery has nothing to do with wanting to be able to play hockey and fixing jets again which is one of my main reason for wanting it fixed the first time.

gawd, i know a guy that is supposedly 80% disabled from the military from having a bulkhead door on a aircraft carrier hit him directly in the back. true, he had surgery on his back, has the scars to prove it, but i have personally watched him work all day doing heavy lifting around his home with no problems. but....whenever he goes to VA, he plays the "pity me" card and gets a nice fat check from the government. I've called about him several times just basically because i can't stand him and want the government to stop paying him to be lazy.

you from what i see have a actual problem. i am no doctor and i can see that. i'm thinking some type of lawyer crap is going on with this one on you bud, sorry to say it.

The Military gave my father 2 artificial hips. He has had four re-replacements since (3 new hips per side) since 1973. I remember going MONTHS without any money at all because the VA would cut off all benefits every couple of years and then have to reevaluate all their people.

100% disabled, and like yourself, nothing in the way of job training than big ship diesel repairs. He only got his GED in the 80s. His choices of work were physical to say the least, and with his hips, that was something he could not do.

The kicker, back in the early eighties, he went back to school to be able to work something that paid well and would allow him to have a job that he could sit at. The VA cut him off promptly saying that if he was well enough to go to school, he was well enough to work.

He finally got 100% PERMINENT disability 5 years ago... after fighting with the VA for over 30 years

That's pretty nasty man. Ar eyou saying they won't give you the Chapter 31 Benefits because you are currently working?

WTF ever. I was working here when I got them. The big thing they wanted to hear, and yours should to is, that your current job aggrivates your injuries that happened while in the service.

Keep hitting them up with the arm one until you are properly compensated my man.
