Digital Camera
As a photographer, my suggestion would be:
Save up an extra $100, and you will be able to get a Canon a80 on ebay, with a ton of extras.
The entire A-series from Canon has consistently received the highest ratings in their class. For the money, you cannot find a better camera.
The a80 is 4 megapixels, has several shooting modes (from auto to full manual), and produces awesome pics. You will be able to take really nice shots of your car (especially at night, using long shutter speeds), and print very nice photos up to 8x10.

I used to have a a95 until I sold it for a new dSLR, and for the short time I had the a95, I really, really liked it.

That's not a bad camera.
The 2 things I think are most important for a point-n-shoot digital camera are: a)range of shutter speeds and b)print size.
This one has a shutter speed range from 15 seconds to 1/2000 of a second. So you will be able to take really nice nice photos, as well as take good shots of fast moving objects, like cars laugh.gif
The print size will be a little lower...the largest you'll get for a clear print is 4x6 with an uncropped image.
If printing doesn't matter to you, I'd say it's a good choice.
Here's a good review on it: Canon a510 review.
The one bad thing is noisy images (unclear), but if you are taking pics for the web, when you resize them to a smaller size to fit on screen, they will look a little clearer.

taking pictures is fun, no matter what camera you have. laugh.gif
If you're just looking for something to start/re-new a hobby, I think you'll be plenty happy with either one.
Whichever you decide to get, make sure to show us the pics you take!
