NOMAD Micro Home Promises Inexpensive Off-Grid Living

(TruthSeekerDaily) A Canadian company called NOMAD Micro Home sells prefabricated homes, easy to assemble in just a few days. This prefabricated house is an example of ergonomic use of space. The standard model, with sides of just 3 meters long, is equipped with a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and an upstairs furnished bedroom.

The living area on the ground floor of the micro-house has plenty of space to be furnished with a cozy sofa to relax on in front of the TV. A kitchen with cabinets for storing cooking vessels is designed in extension of the living room. To save the little space of the house with only 9 square meters footprint, the access stairs that lead upstairs, where there’s a bedroom equipped with a double bed and space for a wardrobe, are just above the kitchen furniture.

The very well insulated modular house, in order to minimize heat loss, can be delivered with a solar panel-heating system, but with a rainwater collector as well, these improvements making it economical and environmentally friendly.

Project developers say such a house can be built both in urban and in rural areas, suitable both as family residence and as a shelter in areas affected by natural disasters. And the fact that the home comes packed and ready to assemble, greatly reduces the final cost of construction. The price is $25,000 CA.

If I lived by myself (with my puppy) I could. I would find a way though to make it one story, with a bigger bathroom and closet, lol.

I could handle that. I would prefer it to be underground though. It's a workable floor plan.

If there were a necessity to be off grid, it would most likely be bad enough so that I sure as hell wouldn't be anywhere on land. I'd haul ass to my boat where I have two galleys, a head, sleeping for 6, and solar power. Not to mention it's wind powered.

I do like the house though.

Its a unique use of space. Would actually make kind of a neat guest/pool house.

I love, love, love 94% of this. The other 6% involves putting FEET on the kitchen counter to go to/from the bed.

Ya I could live in it. Compared to the 3 bedroom house I live in, I would have more of my own space and privacy. But Idk about bringing a chick back to this place. If the shacks a'rockin don't come a'knockin.

Absolutely. In fact, I've actually been looking for something like this to put on my land in Pahrump, NV... right next to a 3,000 Sq. ft. shop (30x100 with a storage loft) with 2 lifts. I intend on retiring there in 15 years.

I could make it happen....with a broom handle attached to my frying pan, I could crap and flip my omelet at the same time, haha! Gotta love multi-tasking!
