Alright, so I have got to get off this, what seems like an, ancient laptop of mine. So, I've decided that I am going to build myself a computer. I already have to knowledge to put it together... I'm just lost as to what to actually get.

I know that I want to go with an AMD processor and an ASUS Motherboard.

This will be mostly for gaming and trolling the internet with a slight bit of school work.

So, what I need is you computer guys out there, what products should I go with? If you have a certain part, please list that as well.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not sure what parts you are needing help with obtaining? I'd heavily consider getting 1GB of RAM.

Do you know which AMD processor you will go with? Do you know which graphics card to consider?

Since you're building a brand new system, go ahead and spend the cash and get 150GB of hard drive... in 4 years or so that'll be small. You're already on a good direction for the computer... AMD is the way to go fing02.gif

www.pricewatch.com is your friend. As has been mentioned, what's the budget? Also, do you have any other parts you can reuse? Keyboard, mouse, monitor and such?

I appreciate all the comments so far! hail.gif

as for a budget, Im not looking to go crazy, somewhere between 1000 and 1500 really. I already have a monitor, so thats not a problem. a mouse and keyboard are usually cheap.

I was actually looking to go with the Update AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester 1GHz FSB Socket 939 so it seems that I am at least one the same wavelenght and someone else! heh fing02.gif

Would the ASUS A8N5X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard Model #: A8N5X be any good?

Video cards.... this is really where I get lost. I definitely want some kick ass grafix... so which would be the best to go with?

I know im going to get two cd drives, some for a dvd/cd burner and one for playing cds so im not using my burner laser to run games.
