Here is a link to the thread I started a while back http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtopic=33279&hl=

If it is the same virus I had a problem with, follow the steps in the link SOCKS provides in post #5 of that thread.

Fixed it for me. Hopefully it helps you too.

homey... i'm sorry man but you are not giving us enough information to help you. Please post some screenshots of the errors/webpages/boxes, and maybe we can figure it out.

if you can't do that, do a screen shot of everything that goes wrong and paste it into a word document, then email it to me (majikTib @ gmail)

how am i not givin enough info lol..

I can NOT do the following...
access internet
access "add or remove programs"
access my anti virus i have on my comp
access my cd rom drive.
access safe mode.

i can not access just about everything that i could use to help remove it it seems like

it always takes me to some website about antivirus which obviously is part of the virus

the same thing pops up... "Application cannot be executed, the file helpctr. is infected. do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"
the only thing that changes is the part that says "helpctr." it changes for whatever i try to access.

i am trying the f11 thing right now...

"some website" is what would be helpful. What is it calling itself? AntiVirus 2009? System Security?

Have you downloaded MalwareBytes yet?

This is the fourth time it's been mentioned in this thread. Please download and run MalwareBytes and let us know what happened.

we need that antivirus site name to be able to do anything. We know you have a virus. We need to know the flavor. Do you know how many people get viruses that take them to a website which will remove it if you pay money? There's a ton and there's a ton of types of viruses. There's a remover for your type. You need to find the remover. We can help if you tell us the name of the site it keeps taking you to.

Basically that virus you have is a scam. They put something on your computer which is difficult to remove and then offer to remove it for money. There's a way to get around paying them. We just need to find it.

you have not given us enough information. We need to know who is them?

I've had this three times.

The "ANTI-VIRUS 2010" TROJAN blocks malwarebytes from being loaded and unfortuantely, Malewarebytes is the only program that can get rid of it, hence the blocking. There's thousands posts at the Malwarebytes' forums about this problem. You have to downloaded a re-named version of malwarebytes that is included at the site.

It's a big pain in the arse; it hijacks your browsers and your computer's security settings. Good luck.

It's extremely common to get this and majority of the people get it from Ebaumsworld.com and the links that goes to another page in Ebaums.

Last month, many people got it by looking at a faux Toyota Recall website. It was lableed "Toyota Recall main page" and it directed you into the trojan.

sometimes you can install it by changing the install file name. Some of those programs block EVERYTHING as a virus!

what happens when you try safe mode? The only other option is a live cd like knoppix/bartpe/hirens and deleting the virus manually but you have to know what file. if you can get into windows and access msconfig you have to find the file in there and delete it.
