Default carfax

how does carfac keep track of different cars' millege? i am changing my cluster and dont wnat to get in to any **** next time i go for inpection or dealer....is there any way for them to find out if milege has been changed/?

The dealer records your mileage at every service. So if you were at 30000 miles at your last service, then bring the car in again, and you are at 2000 miles...they will know.

Not sure how carfax works.

yeah i do all work myself, except for some major repair work...plus i am only going from 12k to 8k

Al,

You're only dropping 4k........you won't get any crap as long as you're honest about it. Contact your local DMV, they will be your best source of info. 4 thousand miles is not worth hiding.
