Be careful what you say
about the president!!!
eek! MAN SENTENCE TO 37 MONTHS FOR DISSING PRESIDENT BUSH Portland, Oregon named Richard Humphreys was sentenced to 37 months in prison for making a remarks about 'a burning bush'.
This all went down in March of 2001 when President Bush made a trip to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. According to the December 6th AP wire story, Humphreys was in a bar in nearby Watertown where he got into a discussion about politics with a truck driver. It was during this discussion that a bartender overheard the conversation where Humphrey's made remarks about 'burning a bush'.
The bartender who realized President Bush was coming to town the next day alerted the authorities. and Humphrey's was arrested and later convicted. The bartender maintains that Humphrey's was stating he was wanted to pour lighting fluid on the President. Humphrey's says his remarks were centered around prophecy. During his trial he stated that his exact comments were "God might speak to the world through a burning Bush,"
He felt the remarks were funny. Obviously the bartender and later the jury didn't. Humphrey's is now appealing the sentence. For those of you who don't believe this went down check out AP
