Camping people I need help picking a tent
I am looking for a 2 or 3 person tent. My only needs are that its fairly light and I wake up dry. Must be sub $300. Tent will be used for a combination of car camping/backpacking mostly in the woods and state parks.
I am considering the Marmot Limelight 3P. Its $239 shipped with gear loft and footprint

or the Marmot Crib 2P is $229 shipped with NO footprint or gearloft ($271 with footprint and gearloft)

Anyone have any experience with either of these tents? The Limelight seems to be praised by its users for offering a lot of tent for the money. The crib seems comparable to the Limelight but with more mesh for ventilation and visibility.
Is there another brand to consider in the price range $300 or less shipped with gear loft and footprint?

They both wouldnt be considered Ultralight, but the first one seems like the better choice since it weighs the same as the second, yet conceals more. Personally, I don't care for netting. If I wanted to see the outdoors, then I'll exit the tent. When I'm in the tent, I'm sleeping or doing things with my GF I don't want others to see. wink.gif
Now, the max wieght is going to take into acount the rain fly. The first one doesn't really need a fly for concealment, and if you don't plan on encountering rain, you can leave it in the car and shed a pound or so.
I don't know where your camping, but I've never needed a footprint either. I just take along my Thermarest Prolite Pad and 1.2lb down bag. I travel Ultralight since down here, you have to pack plenty of water.
I've actually drank from the Rio Grande if you can believe that! wink.gif
