Ehhh...
This is all the same stuff we heard in 90-91.
First off...
Saddamn doesn't have nukes. But he has the capabilities to make them, and most of the know how. That's why we are doing what we are over there.
Second...
The whole area isn't going to blow up in war, that's what was said last time, and it didn't happen, it won't this time either. No one, and I mean NO ONE, wants the wrath of Bush on their hands. Not after how he tore up Afganistan...
Third...
Don't forget what everyone is over looking about these Chemical Warheads... They were made in the LATE 90's after he was supposed to have disarmed. They are also GUARANTEED to be just for Chemicals. There are different designs for different explosive warheads. The kinds used for Chem and Bio agents are very specialized, you can't just BLOW the fack out of a warhead full of that stuff, it'll kill or nutralize the agent. These are specialized warheads, and they were made in the late 90's.
When I was in PSYOPS, we had to sometimes take apart Smoke Rounds (The artillery shells used to produce smoke when they impact, or explode in the air) to take out the chemicals inside and fill them with leaflets. Even these are too explosive to use for Agents, they are too violent. Half the time our leaflets would burst out of the shells on fire (Imagine being bombed for 40 days and then having burning surrender notices falling on your head?) or shredded to hell.
Fourth...
We KNOW that Al-Queda forces are hiding in Iraq. We also have perty good ideas that Sadam was pissed off enough after Desert Storm to help finance the 9 11 disasters.
Fifth...
US Special Operations Forces have been operating in Iraq since the first war there. They know where everything is and they know how it's guarded. Isn't it funny that the first time the UN acted on US and British intel they found something? If Iraq DID have Nukes, they would have been IMMEDIATELY taken out by the SOF guys. Again, he doesn't have them, but he has the capabilities.
Lastly...
I've been in the US Army for 10 years now. I've been in Special Ops units, Field Artillery, and always been involved in NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) Defence. Each time I've gone to a NBC school, I've seen videos, of all those things in use.
Nukes aren't really scary, the big ones are accounted for by the BIG countries (US, France, UK, Russia, China), those are the Thermonuclear Weapons that can easilly destroy whole cities. The small ones are the ones to worry about, but even then, if you're not within 20 miles of where it goes off, or immediately down wind, you're ok.
Chemicals though...
Those scare the bejeebus out of me.

7th: The idea that Saddam is the only threat to us is a myth, used effectively on those who cannot/will not think to rally them to support corporations into making more money.
Saddam is a 0% threat to us and he has never proven a threat to ANYONE else outside his own borders...except Israel. Kuwait was STEALING Iraqi oil by cross drilling and Saddam was given the GREEN LIGHT by the US envoy. Saddam was merely protecting his country's natural resources....like the US wouldn't have done the same. rolleyes.gif
However, Saddam is a direct and real threat to Israel. And, if the US invades to assasinate him then he will no longer have any need for restraint and then be free to unleash his WMD on Israel. Wonder how much the Jews will love Bush after that....yeah, Saddam is gone and all that oil will safely be in the hands of US oil companies (and all those "blind" trusts that Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rove and many other cronies have), but hey, the "holy" rolleyes.gif land will be wiped out. Yeah, nice deal.
8th: Pakisatan and India have WMD and as recently as a few months ago were very ready to use them. BOTH Pakistan and India have shown themselves to be rogue states ready to TOTALLY destabilize the region.....yet Washington remains silent. rolleyes.gif
9th: Pakistan helped the North Koreans obtain material/knowledge to further their nuclear program, yet Washington remains silent because the Pakistanies are still with the US on our now defunct "War on Terror."
10: People who think that Saddam is a madman are easily into anything. He's just your ordinary, run-of-the-mill, US supported thug that can be found at spots all over the globe. He is a sadistic meglomanic, but he is by no means insane. He likes power, hates fundie Muslims, and is generally paranoid. Kim on the other hand is a certified whack job who has openly threatened the US....and Bush does nothing but cower. One can make many guesses as to why, but mine would be lack of oil profits to be made.
The US only thinks that Iraq has a nuclear program whereas N. Korea openly admitted to it while Bush does nothing. His gross incompetence is clear for all to see.....which the world does.
11th: What about the terrorists? Hey George, its after election day. You were successful in scaring the hell out of the American people and gaining power for your incompetent bretheren. Its time to let it go.
You see, if Saddam does in fact pose the high level of danger to the US that Shrub claims that he does, while Shrub does nothing about it, then he is guilty of deriliction of duty. With all this time and still NOTHING concrete provided and still no intelligence to prove Saddam is guilty of Shrub's charges, it is clear to conclude that Shrub is lying.
So which is it - Bush endangering America by inaction or outright lying? its one or the other and I cannot decide which one is worse.
Finally, Saddam is Israel's and a European problem. The US doesn't need to be wiping other countries @sses and giving weak countries bloody noses when it doesn't serve our long term national interests. Sure, some people read this as me saying that I either support Saddam or I'm for appeasement, but these people generally can't read much less reason logically at all, so they don't really matter.
I do ask for people to start thinking with their minds and not with emotions. Saddam is just a handy tool to distract the American public by corrupt and incompetent politicians. Clinton did it and now so does Shrub. Of course, I'm waiting to see a qualified Democrat emerge to oppose Shrub and help others see him for the incopotent, ignorant, priviliged slacker he really is.
I certainly have best wishes for the members of the military who will be forced to fight and die any war for oil profits. As history has shown as all too often the case, the wealthy make money by creating a situation, more money by war contracts, and of course even more money through rebuilding contracts while the middle class and poor continue to die. frown

Sorry, this sailor doesn't plan on dying anytime soon. I certainly have best wishes for the members of the military who will be forced to fight and die any war for oil profits.

And another thing, those of us in the military aren't FORCED to do anything. We willingly took the oath of enlistment to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and obey the orders of the President of the United States. I took that oath without any mental reservation and with the understand that I may be called to fight for my country one day.
Thank you. *steps off soap box*
You misunderstand my use of the word "forced." You will not be defending the United States nor the Constitution, but rather be engaging in activities that will further enrich corrupt politicians. And, even though you volunteered for the military, you are forced to do things you don't really want to do. I wan not insulting any member of the military.
