QUOTE (REDZMAN @ Jul 25 2006, 03:38 PM)
Heya Joshuwa, supercow's server has done very well for us, but he either doesn't have the time, knowledge, or balls, to fix the broken stuff.

LOL

What we NEED? A second setup of this site for admins and supermods to practice working on, so we don't mess up this one trying to learn how to do the tech stuff.

There's a thread or 2 up about what's broken and such. Not a TON, but enough.

Just good to see you again. If you want to work on the site, you are welcome to, just contact Java and Supercow for the info, and have at it.

Hey man, glad to be back and posting smile.gif

To be honest, I probably won't have much time to go in and fix things myself, but now that I can post, I can definitely help out anyone who is doing it.

Any questions and things like that I can answer to help out anyone whose doing it, I'll be glad to.

what! redz I've fixed about everything before. (except arcade....hehe) it just takes time! I'm putting off shoutbox cause I know that it'll take me a good 30-45 of work on it and it'll just get broken when we do another update. We just need to update and leave it there for a while. Fixing stuff then installing the new update next month just to break everything again isn't working.

I'm always super busy, so really no time is good for me to work on it. Whenever I do it means putting off something that would make me money.... don't worry though, I'm not going to let the site go down. If something is broken I drop everything else to have it back up. But for the mods to the site sometime they just get time consuming.

btw, just to clarify it took me about 2 hours of work to get the portal to work after the last updates. Of couse next time it will be less but still like 1/2 hour this last time I was trying to swap to a different portal and such, but just to get an idea.

so in conclusion it's time, transfering the site between servers is far more difficult than following a script to install shoutbox.
