Whats up peeps, so as it goes, it seems that more and more korean manufacturere are going to stop making parts for the beta motor, and start making parts for the beta 2 and the theta !!!! What they dont realize is that here in the states, if the beta has no aftermarket following, who will follow the theta ??? or the beta 2 ?? NO ONE, sure as americans w will continue to put on neons, and vertical door kits, and rice it up !! but as a performance vehicle it will have no following !!!
If you plan on putting on aftermarket parts to your 97-01 Tiburon, withing the next 6 to 12 months, post here, and describe what you plan on buying.
Rside is stopping their BBTB
Maintec stopped their header
whats next ????
go here and post !!!!

Who said Maintec was stopping the headers?
I never heard that.
I'm getting lots of stuff from Korea still.
The simple fact is though, the Korean MFR's don't care about the US Market, at all. Would you? 1,000 units of something are made. 980 of them are sold in Korea. 20 are sold in the us. Per year.
Would you honestly care?

Yeah... Maintec just bumped the prices I guess to take some more of our American money tongue.gif I guess because the dollar is weak and there isn't much of a market over here they can afford to bump 'em up a lil.

The question is though, with so many parts interchangable between the Beta1 and 2.. what crosses over? What stops us from running a BBTB from a beta2 on our engines? The headers should be the same as well. As far as I know the only real differences mechanically between the two engines is the variable valve timing and the solid mechanical lifters. On the Intake side, they run MAP instead of MAF.. really, not significant changes.
Especially considering I am about to buy an almost new Beta2 engine to build for boost. I am going to run it with the MAF injection, but I am also going to be using it with the solid lifters and the GT cam that comes in it.

Well mad, here you go.
Beta 2 = MAP
Beta 2.5 = CVVT/MAF
Beta 2 & 2.5 have a different bolt pattern for the TB. One offset bolt.
Beta 2.5 (Maybe the 2 also) has the IAT and Intake Bypass Valve built into the IM, with a air passage going OVER THE BUTTERFLY. It's a wierd setup.

Well, we'll have to face it someday; it's not like the RD/RD2 Tiburon is anything near "big" in the tuning scene, especially in North America. You can't expect manufacturers to continue producing model spcecific parts for a 5-10 year old car much longer! Wow... the first Tiburon first came in in late '96Â*. Almost 10 years guys!
So, I guess we still have some time, but grab your stuff while it's hot! wink1.gif
