What is better for burnouts. Me and a friend are having a debate. He believes FWD. I say RWD. Seems to me that seeing as how there would be much less weight in the rear that the tires would spin easier.

He says that if your doing them in place w/FWD. You can lock the emergency brake. Now I dont know about you but i have driven many a time with my E-brake on. So he says hold down the brake pedal. Well that would be stopping the tires from spinning correct?

My Tib is the first FWD car that I've owned and have never done a burnout in it. I used to do burnouts in my RDW cars, when I was younger, and it was very easy to do. Never thought about comparing the two, but I would guess that it would better in a RDW.

I think all depends on whp.

With FWD you can lock rear brakes and burn front one.

IMO, RWD is the car that burn outs should be done in. FWD cars try to immitate and do burn outs as well, but it's just funny smile.gif

it's funnier when FWD cars try to burnout and only one tire ends up spinning.

Well, the thing is RWD cars almost always have more power than FWD, and most are V8s (Not too many FWD V8s eh? LOL I've never seen one) which means they make the torque lower to roast the tires.

My Corvette makes its peak torque @ around 2800RPM. It makes more than the Tib makes max right off of idle. Its possible for me to burn the tires for a good minute if I wanted to waste my rears.

Thats the only major reason RWD is known for wicked burnouts... the lowend torque associated with RWD V8s.
