Barry Bonds Chasing Hank Aaron
Well, Barry Bonds is, as of right now, 10 homeruns shy of tying Hank Aaron's all time home run record of 755 home runs.
I want to know how people feel about this....
Here is my take:
I couldn't be more excited. I've always been a fan of baseball. I've been a fan of talent. I appreciate it when I see it. The amount of homeruns he has hit has been incredible. Has he taken steriods? Who the hell knows?! Only he knows. The fact is, steriods may make you bigger, but they do NOT improve your hand-eye coordination... something NEEDED to hit a baseball 325 feet or more over a fence. That takes talent. Talent drugs cannot improve.
There has been a lot of news stories/statistics/polls in regards to which RACE appreciates this homerun chase. In almost every single one of them, the white race basically could care less. They would want an Asterix next to the record. This is bullshit if you ask me. Race has NOTHING to do with this homerun record. Bonds is the best power hitter the game has ever seen. He may not be a good fielder. He may be a terrible teamate.. but he can hit a baseball, and he can hit a long way.
I will be watching the games when he's chasing the record. Infact, there's a VERY good posibility that he breaks the record at Fenway Park and that would be incredible. Baseball's BEST ballpark with baseball's best power hitter. It doesn't get any better than that.
I personally cannot wait for the record to be broken. I just wish that the baseball community (Hank Aaron for one, Stearn (commissioner) as well) can appreciate this amazing feat and give Bonds the respect and admiration he deserves.

I've gotta disagree with you here man.
I'm a huge baseball fan. I grew up with season tickets watching the Dodgers play. I grew up on the field.
Barry Bonds, if he is found guilty of steroid use, should be held to the same standards as all other players. Recently, I forget who, someone tested positive for enhancers for the second time, and receive a 100 game suspension (i think that's right).
If you test positive for enhancers, I don't believe you should be eligible for setting any records.
You say he's a good power hitter. Steroids don't give you hand-eye coordination, that's true. But consider the massive effects it has on a person. Look at Jose Canseco for example: he's admitted to using steroids. Look at how huge he was! All he has to do is make contact with the baseball and it's gone. Nobody in MLB can remain on a team if they can't make contact with the ball. That's already there, to all MLB batters. I can hit 90MPH pitches all day long, but won't hit a damn one of them out of the park. Put me on some steroids, and get me as big as Bonds, and I'll have a MUCH higher probability.

In his first 7 seasons, Barry Bonds only broke 30 home runs twice (33 in seson 5, and 34 in season 7). After that, he didn't hit less than 30 (not including 2005 when he sat the season out and 2006 while recovering from the effects of the steroids).
Most baseball players peak in their 20's... Barry didn't start power hitting til in his 30's (what happened during the 7 seasons he was in his 20's?) Uh oh, sudden realization... he suddenly broke out as a power hitter when he was sent to San Fransisco to play. Wonder where he picked up the steroids???
