Default An Automotive history of me.

Hey, here's a question... What cars have you guys owned?

My first car was a hand-me-down 4 door sedan. 1978 Chev Malibu. It was also the "newest" car that I had for the next 10 years. It wasn't a fancy car, but it got me around.

Next car was a 1977 Chevelle. Bought it for next to nothing, and it wasn't worth the price. It lasted 6 weeks before the engine threw a rod.

After that, I got a 1975 Chev Monte Carlo. This was the first car that I bought because I wanted it. The car lasted me 6 years. I did some pretty serious performance modifications on it. But when my income couldn't feed the 6 pack sitting on top of the big block V8 in that car, I sold it. (Best timeslip: 11.7@121)

While I was working on (read: Chevy spent more time with the engine on a stand than in the car) the car, I bought a little "beater" to drive around in. A 1972 Toyota Corona Mark II. This car surprised the **** out of me. The engine was an inline 6, it's is, in fact the direct ancestor of the engine in my Supra. The car weighed next to nothing (well, when compared to the behemoth battleship of my 1975 Chevrolet!) After doing a bit of work on it, I had boosted the stock 110 bhp to about 165. Nothing much, but the day I beat my brother-in-law's new 5.0 supercharged Mustang to 100 mph, my whole attitude towards imports changed. I sold that car about 6 months after selling the Monte Carlo, in favor of having some money to go to school.

Well, what can I say, I needed a car. I bought something that I didn't think would tempt me to race. A 1976 Toytoa Celica GT Liftback. I thought it was a nice looking car, and it had an impressive array of gadgetry (for the time.) The 2.2L engine wasn't very exciting. The 5 speed transmission was ... adequate. It got me around. I sold it for nearly double what I paid for it, and spent the money (all of it) on taking my family out to dinner. That ought to tell you what the car was worth. wink.gif

My next car was a 1992 Nissan 240SX. I never did get around to doing much engine work, but I got a friend's Nissan Stanza off to a good start with the parts that I had aquired (and never installed) after I sold the car. (Someone made me an offer that I couldn't refuse.)

After that, it was a 1988 Plymouth Sundance. Basic car. build on Daimler/Chrysler's venerated K-car chassis. 'nuff said.

And then I got my Supra. I don't think anyone will ever offer me enough money to sell it. smile.gif I'm building a turbocharged engine for it. I don't know when I'll get it in the car (Maybe next year -- but that's what I said LAST year.)

Oh yeah. I bought my wife a 1984 Toyota Cressida. Nice car. A bit underpowered though. HER next car is probably going to be a Sephia. She wants a Tib, but it's not really practical with the kids. wink.gif My daily driver when I get my new engine dropped in will most likely be a Tib.

There. An Automotive history of me.

How about you guys? (And gals)

My first car was a 82' Ford Escort Station Wagon. Beat the SNOT outta that thing and it kept coming back for more. Never raced it much, but never did anything to it other than trying to run it into the ground. At 150,000 miles, oil in the anti-freeze finally signaled it's death.

Next was a 1989 Pontiac 6000 LE. Damn POS, nuff said.

1984 Ford Tempo GL Sport. 2.4L H.O. I4. Went through 3 clutches, 3 pressure plates and 1 planetary gear before a left turning truck turned it into scrap. List of mods on that thing were as long as my arm, and 99% of them were "randomized" from other cars, as no-one made a damn thing for that car. Because of all the money I had put into modifing it, I was upside-down on the loan, and had to pay money to put it in the junkyard after the accident. That sort of soured me on modifing cars, best time was a 14.1 @ 95.8 MPH.

Then came a 1985 Renault Aliance. That car had the coolest seats in any car I've ever driven or seen to this day. The sour taste left in my mouth, I left it 100% stock untill a bad water pump finally killed it.

For a short time I had a Chevy Monza. Made the mistake of grinding out some teeth on the reverse gear trying to do a "rockford" on gravel (stupid, stupid, stupid), so it lasted less than 6 months before I sold it for $175.

Still soured on modifications, I wanted another car could beat the crap out of, I bought a 1990 Ford Festiva. True three speed autotragicslushbox. This car soured me on auto tranny's, and I have never bought one since. I had to turn off the AC in the summer for a "passing gear/overdrive", but that sucker was still going strong with 200,000 miles on it. Rear tail electrical gremilins finally persuaded me to get rid of it.

1989 Dodge Colt 5-speed manual. Nothing remarkable, just damn good reliable transportation. I dumped it when the cluch and syncho's went out at the same time, and didn't feel like investing $1500 in a $1000 car.

1999 Hyunda Tiburon FX. Originally left it 100% stock...until I heard about/saw MHP's CAI. It was so shiney and pretty, I had to have one! The increase in performance and sound hooked me on car modifing again. Which takes me to where I am now with the Alpine turbocharger, and other unspecified modifications to be mentioned/shown at a later date.

Hmmm....I'm only 16 so I can make this short

First I drove around my moms old 1994 Nissan Sentra, that car never lost any of its pocket rocket power, I give Nissan all the respect in the world because of that little car. From 1994 to 2001 the only major problem was hail damage to the hood!

Now, I have my own 2001 Hyundai Tiburon, cobalt blue. It's goin to pieces! Alignment was off when we got it so the front passenger tire had to be replaced because in 2000 miles it was worn about 20%. The automatic transmisson has gone loopy redlining on 1st gear for a good 5 seconds before shifting then jerking the car. A kid threw a baseball AT my car leaving a big dent on the hood. I still love this car, I remember test driving it, the one time it had no problems. Oh well it's at the dealer getting fixed right now so hopefully it will be back to "normal" soon smile.gif

eek.gif Jeeps! Dan, if you got kids get an Elantra GT! Wagons rule! It's the Tiburon engine in there. Plus Purple gauges, that's the coolest man.

First vehicle was an 89 Toyota P'up. The day I brought it home, I lowered it, installed a stereo system with a single 18" sub, did a full walk-thru (cut out the cab wall behind the seats, and made it all open). Sold it 3 months down the road, after doing a custom paint job, shaved handles, flip front end, and suicide tailgate.

Next was a 93 Nissan (Purple Haze) Painted it bright purple with red micro-flake. Installed a 6 switch Hy-Lo Hydraulic set up, 16" Billet rims, cut the top off and installed a "Ratical Top" convertible top, shaved all emblems and tailgate handle, and finally installed Miata door handles before selling it and coming out to NY.

Came out to NY, and found an 84 S-10 at a police auction. Bought it for $450 bux. It needed a new engine, tranny, bed, and drivers side door. Went to a junk yard, found a perfect 4.3 V6, new tranny, and new door. Had a mechanic install the "Go Stuff." while I installed the body stuff. Painted it Midnight black, airbrushed lime green fading into violet flames. Installed a 3 switch hydraulic set up, suicided a fiberglass tonneau cover, shaved all emblems, door handles, welded shut the tailgate, shaved the rear lights, cut out Chevy Bow Ties in the bumper, and used them as lights. I did a HUGE mural on the tailgate of the California Raisins chillin in a casino. Underneath the mural, I airbrushed "Raisin Mo' Hell" The name of the truck was Lowered Gamble. I basically did the whole gambling type of theme all through out the truck. Airbushed ghost dice in the paint, dice shift knob, etc...

Sold it for $16,000 and bought 2 Mazda trucks. An 87 B2200 and a 93 B2200. The 87, I lowered with an air ride, painted it gun metal grey, with rainbow micro flake in the paint. Also painted purple and white sweeping graphics on the side. The 87 was my sound off truck. Turned the entire interior into a full all out custom rolling video and audio system for show. The 93, I painted pearl white, installed a 16 switch hydraulic set up, 17" knock off Triple Gold Plated wire rims, sliding rag top, full walk through, fully wrapped and reinforced frame, lengthened a-arms, monster notch in the rear, 4 link set up, engine out of an RX7, green underbody neon, phantom grill, suicided the tailgate, welded a steel roll pan in the place of the bumper, and airbrushed Marvin The Martian drinking a 40 on the hood. The best modification I have EVER done was install a perfectly working waterfall with green neon inside the cab of the 93. It was an extended cab, so I had it inside that right between 2 10" subs. It was something where I could only turn it on when the truck was sitting, otherwise if it was on while driving, I would get water everywhere.

Both my 84 S-10 and 93 Mazda appeared in Minitruckin Magazine, and Lowrider Magazine. The 93 also appeared in Street Customs, and Scrape as full featured articles.

Now we come to my Tib. As most of you know....this is a working piece of art in progress. I'm hoping to get this car featured in a couple of magazines in the coming months.

OH YEAH...and my numerous $75-$150 piece of crap winter vehicles I've had since moving to NY.

when ifirst started driving in 99 i got my mom's 92 BMW 325i, didnt know how to drive worth **** and flipped it in to a ditch within a month, got a nissan xterra b/c it was "safe", atleast thats what my parents said, the tires would skid around every turn and it wouble back and forth. we soldit b/c of the rising gas prices and i got a 2000 dodge neon that i wrecked twice in a week. the first wreck i just hopped a curb and nothing happened but some scratches, than a few days later i was going 70 around a long turn and hit the median which blew both my front tires, broke the axel, bent the rims, pushed the frame up, and some how broke the a/c. took 6 weeks to get it fixed b/c "they couldnt get the right parts" then finnaly traded it in for the tiburon which i havent wrecked it for the 1 year and 2 months that i have had it.

You've got some serious problems, ... or you shouldn't be on the road. Truely man, you gonna get yourself killed one day.

First car..bought off my p's for $1000. '93 Plymouth Sundance turbo. 2.4L Maserati Turbo engine. Autotragic though sad.gif Fast ass car..I couldn't believe my parents would buy a car like that. Most fun I've had with a vehicle. Intentionally pulled e-brake slides into snowbanks in winter with 3 friends in the car. One day we did that for 3 hours in a neighborhood at 2am (now that I think about it, I'm glad the airbag never went off wink.gif) Cop was at the end of the block watching us the whole time. We didn't notice till we were done. He just gave us a weird look smile.gif

Second car was an '89 Lincoln Mark VII. Was gold..repainted to dark metallic green. 2 months after owning I needed a tranny rebuild. Gotta a bad rebuild which they fixed for free. Air-ride suspension gave out during long trips leaving me 2inches off the road and harsh as hell. Fast car for being so heavy..5.0 high output. Great power slides and donuts. Exterior was mint but electronics and engine problems made me sell but I still miss her. Many a good backseat memory in that beast. Sold after 6months...shoulda kept the Sundance.

3rd. 1998 Eclipse GS-T. Silver..5-speed..all options. Did some light turbo mods. Great car, performance wise. Interior was cheap (Tib built better). Tib also corners better stock vs stock. Chick magnet. Good for cruising around on a friday night. Totalled going 90mph down the freeway. Lucky to be alive.

Current. 2k Black Tib 5spd. Soon to be turbo'd. Best car I've owned yet Next car will be a BMW M3..or another Hyundai wink.gif

Hell YEAH!! My folks had the 85 Alliance before the Sundance. I don't remember much of that car...too young. I DO remember that my dad modded it!! Yeah he put semi-truck air horns under the hood. Like 4 of them. That bitch was LOUD!! LOL
