Default Ask a Taxi Driver Anything

So I've been driving a taxi for a little while now, I thought I'd make a thread and see if anyone is curious about what I do. I'm a 20 year old dude and I drive around Perth, Western Australia.

So right now, the day driver went away over christmas, so I've had the taxi at mine and I'm giving it a going-over. I gave the steelies a fresh lick of paint and started diagnosing a creak coming from the back end, once that's done it's time for a wash and then I'm back on the road.

Also merry christmas, right-side-up friends

Have you been asked to "follow that car" yet?

What percentage of your passengers are either currently drunk, or planning on being drunk?

Not really. I've had a couple of hairy pickups from parties where the other drivers want to do 20 over the whole way - I guess they don't make the connection that having a licence = income.

Not officially, I lease this car off the owner. However the owner is lazy/stingy and there was a bunch of stuff that needed doing - the car was making embarrassing/worrying noises so I thought I'd better investigate.

Over 90% of them I would say. Taxis here are so bloody expensive that people rarely take them unless they have to.

That's about what I figured. I've only ever gotten a taxi if I was already or was going to be drunk.

Have you ever had someone try to ditch out the car and not pay?

Taxi for me=crazy times! Made a chick take a cab to meet me somewhere she didn't have any money; I told her to jump out down the street. Didn't work the driver took her to her house where she gave him a DVD player for payment. And one 420 night got kicked out of a house with a shotgun in my face. Didn't have enough money to make it home. The driver was cool took what we had and got us home.

In Korea we may have tipped the tab driver 20 bucks if they beat another cab back to base... for a 3 dollar cab ride. Probably not the brightest thing ever. I did find out that a Sonata > Kia Magnus.

Next question. The internet tells me people get it on in the back of cabs all the time.. well certain sites do. Any truth to that?
