Get a used copy of Reason 2.5, they come cheap. Or you can get Reason 3.X for $400. I got Reason 2.5 and it's the bomb.

I produce quite a bit. I have Reason 3.0, Ableton Live 5.0, Cakewalk Kinetic, Bias Peak Pro 5.0, Stanton Final Scratch, Apple Logic Express, Sound Forge 8.0, and Steinberg Cubase. I have a couple of smaller amateur things too like Fruity Loops and Sonic Foundry Acid DJ and so on.... I tend to stick with the mainstream professional titles though. smile.gif

yeah! i'm making some electronic music right now with a friend who has connections with british labels. i can't upload it or convert it to mp3 though, so i was going to wait until songs are finished to spread the word.

^ Its good for the basics, but if you want to produce something on a professional level, or even create stuff that sounds worthy to some of the mainstream stuff you hear on the radio these days....go with any of the titles I listed.

Edit:

Oh yeah...and make sure you have a REALLY good sound card if you're looking to create. The difference between a good and bad sound card or even decent studio monitors can be a world of difference as to how you tweak the stuff you make.
