Anyone every hire a "headhunter" when looking for a new job?
I'm currently looking for a new job because I'm not happy with my current position. I've filled out profiles on Monster, etc. but never get any hits and if I do they're from recruiters that are probably marketing several people with my qualifications.
My uncle mentioned something about signing up with a headhunter which is what he did after he moved away after college. I'm assuming this is just a recruiter, but you are paying them to help you look for a job. Any experience with this?

one found me after I put a resume up on careerbuilder.com, good job.. but the day before the official interview with the company the job I was at gave me a nice raise and the new company could only match it. I ended up staying, but that system would have worked if the raise didn't come through at the last minute.
