Been thinking about taking some pilot lessons and was wondering for those who did it, how long was the process from beginning to end to where you were able to fly solo and have a full license to do so? How much did it cost to do it and any tips I should look into before signing up?

I'm looking into a HUGE career change IT to Pilot... My father-in-law is a pilot and here are some tips...

1 - Look into SEVERAL flight schools, even if they aren't in your area.
2 - See how many / if any are offering free trial flights to see if you will even like it.
3 - Check with local colleges, some offer flight degrees (the College of Southern Nevada offers a degree where you will earn your private pilots license, instrument rating, and a couple other things) and are cheaper than regular flight schools (by tens of thousands of dollars).
4 - Check reviews and recommendations for the flight schools.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I've heard time-wise, it's not too hard to do (private pilot). It can be done after work and on the weekends.
Money-wise, it's under $10k.
Anything more than private pilot, I have no idea.
