Probably about 2 months ago I became a member of the Washington, DC area chapter of the SCCA. Is anyone else around here a member?

I would see it as much more costly too. I'd break 5h!t all the time if I were hitting jumps and stuff.

I have done the other side... had a broken crossmember, stripped steering rack, exhaust system ripped from the car, bent rims, and bashed fender on my old excel to prove it.... the car also did not sit straight.. the passenger side fender used to sit a little higher than the hood.

Wow..... Thats a little rough. Road rally is a little safer on the car thats the main reason I went for that option.

it was more than a little rough.. but it was a LOT of fun. I might get back into it in a couple of years. Think I might buy 1.6 dohc accent used and toughen it up and run it in the stock class. While the Tib would probably be a better car.. the accent sits higher and is narrower.. better for the rough fire roads we use here in Jersey.

I just find it suprising that with almost 700 members I am the only one who is part of the SCCA. Not like it is a small thing ya know? In the spring I am going to do some of their solo events (basically a large parking type lot with cones and stuff setup if ya didn;t know what it was). Seems like something that would be atleast fun to try a few times. Unfortunatly since I've done engine and suspension work I get bumped into a higher class that makes my chances of placing slim to none.
