The annual 9/11 thread
We have these threads every year so why not have another....
1. Where were you when the planes hit?
2. What were your first thoughts after hearing or seeing it?
3. Did you know anyone who died in the attacks?
4. Do you think some of the conspiracy theories are right about the attacks? (missile hitting the pentagon, etc)

1. Where were you when the planes hit? - At work, southern NJ.
2. What were your first thoughts after hearing or seeing it? - I was scared, not for my immediate safety as I didn't think that an attack would be hitting close to home, just scared that something like this was happening.
3. Did you know anyone who died in the attacks? - No
4. Do you think some of the conspiracy theories are right about the attacks? (missile hitting the pentagon, etc) - Similar to the Pearl Harbor attacks, I believe that the Government had SOME inside knowledge that something was going to go down soon. They probably didn't attack their own country, and I think it was a plane not a missile that hit the pentagon. Some or all of this could have been prevented/avoided, but we wanted a reason to go to war.
5. What are your thoughts on rebuilding and the Freedom tower? - Not bad, been hearing a lot about the 9/11 museum that still isn't open, let's get that up and running. The memorial itself is breathtaking.

The US supplied the Taliban with weapons to fight the Russian from 1979-1988 and now much of the same munitions are turning up in IED and weapons caches. The US knew it made a big mistake by helping fight the bear. I am not saying the events of 9/11 were pre meditated and allowed to happen but there are some very blurry details surrounding it, im sorry facts are facts and the 'Loose Change' type conspiracy videos have some pretty valid points.
These thoughts coming from someone who has fought the Taliban, been blown up in roadside bombs 6 times, and dragged friends out of IED craters with limbs missing.
Do I like the war, regardless of how it came to be? No, but you lie to yourself by not seeing some validity in the videos. I may not believe in the reasoning for Governments decisions but I will always stand beside them in defense because that is my job.

2K2 - A salute to you, and any service persons weather it be on our soil or overseas.
Loose change was a mixed bag IMO they did present a few good talking points while other things they brought up were simply not true (example that comes to mind is their explanation of the "controlled demolition" where bombs must have been placed on certain floors for the tower to fall the way it did. When this theory was tested it was shown that the tower would collapse the way it did without pre-placed explosives).
The US Government (along with many other governments) has had their hands in many pots. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends and at the end of the day we're all greedy. What happened that day 11 years ago was a tragedy, and I do not want to take away from that with some "conspiracy theory", but when asked yes I do believe that the government knew something and chose to do nothing so that they could do what they wanted to do. After 9/11 GWB had a blank check for mayhem and he then chose to attack a country that was NEAR where we thought the terrorist organizations were based and just happened to be on top of massive oil reserves.

I can tell you all one thing...if one day it comes out to the public and the truth is told or proven evidence is shown to the world that our government had any involvement in the towers coming down or the pentagon getting hit....I cant even begin to tell you the sh*t storm that will happen from the public declaring martial law against political leaders.

I was on a job installing one of my PCs. I left the site just in time to hear on the radio that "a plane" had hit one of the towers and my mind thought it was another small prop. Seconds later the DJ screams and you can hear the explosion from the 2nd plane hitting on what ever broad cast they were watching.
2. What were your first thoughts after hearing or seeing it?
Terror and anger. After the 2nd plane hit, the situation struck me. I canceled all of my installs for the rest of the day an rushed home. Totally surreal to watch. I don't think the full reality of it hit me for a few days.
As a side note, it's not a popular stance, but I think George W Bush acted appropriately the morning of the attacks. Can you imagine the effects of a president jumping out of his chair in the middle of that elementary school and shouting "JESUS f*cking CHRIST WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!" The attacks had done their damage, he acted in a clam manor befitting a leader, the larger harm would come from the leader of our nation panicking or breaking down in a tears in front of all of those kids. That took strength and is commendable. A stance I'll defend to the end despite all of my criticisms of him (of which I have many.)

I have a relative that was in the pentagon when it was hit. He was uninjured thankfully.

It's said that trace amounts of thermite were found. OF f*cking COURSE YOU a**holeS. One of the most common concoctions of Thermite consist of aluminum and Iron Oxide. What are airplanes made out of? What is often found on rebar? Get a clue. I do blame Clinton for some of this, his administration was basically handed Bin Laden with a big ass bow on his head and old Billy let him go. That might not have prevented the massacre, but could have given a lot more clues to help thwart it.
