I've never been a fan of Bonds. I don't like his way he does things. For example, when he homers, he walks to first base entirely. How can a guy after all these years find his niche at age 36? I can't wait until they do drug testing.

Take a look at it this way, yes he hits homers, but can he play outfield? Not at all, as evident at the WS. Personally, power outfielders like Andruw Jones are much better than Bonds. Give him a few years to tune out, and he'll be hitting 40-50 homers consistent along with his awesome outfielding skills. Like Maddux said, Andruw saves a couple of runs each game. I'd rather have someone save a few runs then take a chance of hitting homers. But of course, I'm a Braves fan since 1990, yes I'm kinda biased.

I'm glad to see the Angels won the WS, not Yankees, not Mets, not Atlanta(even though I love them). It makes the game much more fun. Actually watching an Angels game was pretty fun.

Bonds can't play outfield?

Doesn't he have EIGHT gold gloves?

He is also sneeky quick, people forget he went 40-40.

Drug testing? If I worked out 7-8 hours a day for a few months (how ever long off-season is) I would look like I was on drugs too. Bonds sacrificed an off season for training, I'm fairly sure there was no drugs involved.

Edit - I really enjoy seeing Bonds walk to first base. When someone can hit the ball that hard, that often, I say he can walk all the way around the bases.

On a side note, remember when Joey Cora hit a home run and ran the bases in 9 seconds?

So it's Barry's fault that pitchers can't deliver?
Not at all. Its no players fault that the modern pitching talent pool sucks. McGuire, Sosa, Bonds, and there are others and they ALL have a spiked increase in homers in recent years. Could it also be because of steriod use? I'm not ready to jump on that bandwagon yet, the fact remains that homers are up across the boards. More runs are being scored as well.

I'm not blaming Bonds. I'm just pointing out that the Home Run record doesn't mean as much as it used to.

Funny, from 2 seasons before his 70hr season, Bonds said he trained ALL off season in hitting, but did he get good? How did you all of a sudden get good at their late 30's. Do you think no other baseball players train during the offseason?

Yes, Bonds sucked in outfield this year. Looks like you haven't watched Game 7.

Nope, I didn't. Worst World Series in a long time.

I was either

A) At a high school football game

cool.gif Watching the Stars

C) Watching NBA Preseason

Not all players train as much as they could in the off-season. I don't know... drugs just seems like a simple answer.

No, I'm talking about his shabby defensive skills on game 7.
