so im looking at extending the range of my wifi internet, however the base signal is not from a source inside of my house. i share internet with my friend who lives about 50-100ft away from my apartment.i get a fair reception in my living room and spare bedroom but anywhere else its a no go... i want to keep it password protected other than that i have no demands. i dont need extreme speed. just enough for non hd youtube vids.
so im looking for an access point that connects to wifi internet and broadcast a wifi internet signal. or anything else that would work wirelessly, and not include buying an even better router. we just got this one and its much better than before but still not great. for me at least...lol
i found this but im pretty sure its not for internet...

what you're looking at is a wireless repeater. say you want to send signal 100 ft but it only makes it to 60 give or take. put the repeater at around 50 and it simply takes incoming signal, and sends out a duplicate of its own. just as the name sounds. just google for that. and yes that links is what you'd be after, but read reviews before buying.
depending on how far you're going and what signal strength is like right now there are other options...upgraded antennas for the router for example. or you can go ghetto and make your own signal reflectors for nothing

the repeater has to be compatible with the original access point. I suggest two of these:

in wds repeater mode.
