Yet another question for the guru's out there.
As of recently, we have experienced a cold-snap out here in Saskatchewan (Canada). Now, I turned on the front defrost... but the A/C light came on... is the air conditioning supposed to turn on when I put on my front defrost?? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of it as well? Thinking about it, it doesn't make sense... blowing cold air on a windshield that needs defrost... hrmm... Or is that just how it works? |
AC = Defrost??
2000+ Canadian Tibs are like that.
Yes you can defeat it, but I forgot which wire it was you cut, so you can just control it manually, like the older tibs But yeah if you want your windows to defrost / defog ALOT faster, use the AC AC is NOT JUST for cold air, it de-humidifies the air, therefore getting rid of the fog. It's fine if you have the heat on "HOT" and having the AC on too. |
uhhh it does that for mine too and i live in pa
Well it could be all 2nd Gens,... I just know FOR SURE that it's like that on the Cdn 2nd gens
My 99 First Gen does NOT do that.. so it must be the second gens.. as for it making it faster.. Turning on the air almost instantly clears the windsheild.
ahh, i've been wondering about this too
so does anyone know how to make that manual? (so a/c doesn't turn on automatically for defrost?) |
it works better if you have the a/c on and have the temp gauge in the middle between hot and cold, gets rid of the fog quicker for some reason
if you use the Defrost on 2nd gens it automatically turns the A/C light on. I believe you can still turn the temp. knob and have it blow heat, but the A/C condenser removes the water vapors from the air and allows the defrost to work. So don't worry about it, it's normal... wink.gif
That is all the AC is doing.. dehumidifying the air.. does not mean a thing if the temp is on hot or cold...
Well yet again, thank you all very much for your prompt responces. I'm planning my first major trip in my (relatively) new Tib so there were just a few 'quirks' I wanted to work out before hand. Next up... a problem that I may have to bring into the shop. My gasoline gauge doesn't seem to work properly. I fill up and it goes just past 3/4 of a tank... so I never know how much gas I have left in the car!
