For all you Washington/Baltimore alternative-rock listeners, whfs is gone. its been turned into a spanish music channel. ive been going to Hfstivals forever, and listening to hfs since before i can remember. kinda saddens me to know that i gotta go take 99.1 off of my #1 preset on my radio.

i was reading this on NT.com...

is this the holy grail of radio stations or something? they're not as good as WAAF 107.3. this is the station that made Opie and Anthony famous.... til they got fired for an April Fools gag that wasn't THAT bad. they were the first stations in the country to play: Staind, Godsmack, 7dust and a ton more....

what was their format?

happened yesterday at around noon.

spart, yes, it really is. the hfstival is one of the biggest concerts/festivals in the country. they used to have it on mtv back in the day, and had it on mtv2 for a couple years. good charlotte, along with a number of bands owe a lot of what they have today to hfs.

Did it just dissapear? That happened to a station here (97.1), it was here one day, then the next it was "Sunny 97.1" playing adult classics. Strange.

As long as they don't get rid of K104, I'm happy.

I have worked in radio.. it is ALL about money. To be exact, you can look up the history of one of the stations I worked at.. WMID AM and FM.. the AM station has been on the air since 1947 at the same location, with the same call letters and same frequency all these years. One of the first full time radio stations in the area and still going strong.

Unfortunatly, they play "moldy oldies" now... so I guess that they have come full circle in their playlists.

Thank God!!! My gf is in into alternative music and I had 99.1 programmed into my radio for her.... now I won't have to listen to that crap ever again!!! Although they did have very nice trance music on weekend nights after 12.
