So since 9/11 is Thursday, figured I would bring up the topic again this year, and ask where were you and what did you do or think when you heard/saw everything going down?
I was working for a recording studio, and doing a project for a local band when someone came running into the studio and told me a plane had hit. Didnt do anything for the entire day, except watch CNN, until it was time to go home. sad.gif

I was putting up insulation in a new FBI academy building that was going up on the Quantico Marine Base about 30 miles from the Pentagon. I remember when people found out they were running around freaking out like we were gonna get hit next...psssh. I don't care how crazy you are but I doubt any kamikaze taliban terrorists are ever gonna plan an attack on a construction site after hitting such big targets.
I was pretty freaked out tho because my girlfriends dad worked for the CIA and was part of international affairs so I thought he was at the Pentagon...but luckily I found out after a frantic call to my girl that he worked in the Langley office.
I remember the next couple weeks after 911 were crazy, 911 was all that anyone talked about...even at big field partys during keg stand competitions. The saddest part about it all was meeting someone that had family directly involved with the tragedy. I met a couple guys that lost a parent and they were just getting hammered the worst way, hell I would have been too. I wish I knew how they were doing today but I don't even know if they survived all the drinking they did the night I met any of them.

It hit earlier in the morning for me since I'm on the west coast. I was driving to work and Howard Stern came over the radio and announced it. Right when he announced it I saw a couple of cars literally run off of the highway out into the ditch, one of them almost hit me. Beyond that there were people pulled over everywhere talking on their cell phones. 10 minutes later I was at work and told everyone so a guy left and bought a TV and I set up a makeshift antenna so everyone in the office could watch it. We tried to get work done but it didn't really happen so pretty much everyone went home after a few hours.
After the events behind 9-11 came to light I nearly signed up with the military. I didn't in the end but it was really close. Thanks to anyone who was or still is in the military for everything you do, and for helping me feel like we got some revenge in Afghanistan.

^I saw Roger on American Dad get very close to catching him, lol.
I was with my (then) girlfriend in her dorm room. The phone rang and it was her roommate's mom telling us to turn on the TV and to let her roommate know that her father didn't make it to the airport in time to catch that plane! We turned on the TV just in time to catch the second plane hitting. Didn't really do much else then watch CNN myself that day.

I had just got my little brother to school came back and was watching TV talking to my mother before she left for work saw the 2nd plane it but I didn't realize what I was watching till after my mother left for work. Then my father called and told me to pick my brother up from school. Then I went to work, didn't work just watched the news on a little TV that I had.
I had just stepped out of the shower in my dorm room at the University of Tennessee, and my dad called me. He asked if I was watching TV ( i said no ) and he told me to turn it on. I asked what channel, he said any of them.
At that time, the towers had not yet fallen. It was a weird feeling outside... we could hear (but not see) fighter jets in the skies, I guess because there's a nuclear plant 30 minutes from campus.
Classes were cancelled that day. I went to my Biology lecture class (approx. 500 people) in an auditorium. The professor got up front, briefly mentioned what had happened, and said classes would be cancelled for the rest of the day. They left CNN on the big projector in the auditorium for everyone to watch. TV monitors all over campus were on the news stations (usually on campus network).

I had just arrived to school. it was a math class. the Teacher had it on and knowing him i thought he was prolly just putting on DIe Hard or something. Wasnt till I noticed that the other kids were realy "WATCHING" what was going on and saw that it was the news. It was 7:30ish on he west so it was an hour and a half into it in New York. Towers fell a bit later and even then I just couldnt believe what was going on. We left the class at 10 most of the major stuff had happened. Half the class was just quite the other half were just going about their day.
Even now, for some reason even though I didnt know a soul who died or even anyone affected by it it gets me choked up. Kind of how my grandfather felt when he was 11 and hearing about Pearl Harbor. This was our Pearl Harbor...sad part is it wasnt a country wasnt even a race of people it was done by a group of phsycos who are not happy with how they have to live. Who are they?
