I know someone who has a philosophy degree and he's pretty much just sitting on his ass under a ton of college debt now.

 

I can agree with most of that, except I wouldn't advise elementary education. With so many government budget cuts, education is definitely among them. Schools are closing down and consolidating, and I know a few "teachers" who are having to rely on tutoring and assistant type roles because there are NO elementary education opportunities available. There also isn't much of an alternative since it's very specific.

 

And the pay isn't very good either.

 

My degree audit is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in a video post production field.





Granted, there are also tons of job in Atlanta both in film and corporate environments where my skills are relevant. Plus I have a killer portfolio.

Fair enough, but studying some thing for the money is always bad. I can almost feel the rush of helicopter parents booting their apathetic kids into finance degrees.
