IF you have a pistol with a fully supported chamber (no Glocks w/o upgraded barrel) I suggest the Buffalo Bore Heavy .40 Smith & Wesson +P. It uses flash suppressed powder to limit the blinding effects of shooting in low light situations which is a huge advantage in a defensive load. They use Gold Dot bullets which are a good option, just better used here than in the Speer factory loadings IMO. You just need to be SURE that you have a fully supported chamber. My Glock 22 ruins brass even at standard pressures, pretty sure it would rupture the casing or worse with a high pressure loading. Most non-Glocks are okay but you need to check to be sure if you're considering Buffalo Bore for a .40 S&W.
